Autumn in Coral Gables

I took some photos last Sunday afternoon. We have been living in Coral Gables for 3 weeks now and I have to say: it is a beautiful place.

We have a public library, a youth center, a running field, two golf courses, a botanical garden, a butterfly garden, a Venetian pool and many, many brilliant other things.

However, what amazes me most importantly every day is the nature all around us here, in Coral Gables. I just took a short walk around the Coral Gables Public Library last weekend and I did not have a full minute when I did not feel the urge to shoot a picture.

So all in all, here you are, autumn (or fall, whichever you like) how we see it here in South Florida in 2013.

Lizards and birds

I can prove that Florida is the home of lizards. They are EVERYWHERE. You always have to watch out not to step on them when you walk. First, I got a bit scared of them (actually they are small, approx. 5-10 cm), but now I think they are cute.

Besides fast lizards, we have a bird couple, one of the most colorful I have ever seen outside a zoo or an animal shop. I don`t know the name of the species but they are amazingly beautiful. I tried to take some photos but they are really hard to catch.

Oh, look at those red feathers....

Furniture Makeovers

I was reading one of my favorite blogs a couple of weeks ago and they mentioned a nice book about furniture makeovers. The local library did not have it but I could make a request and they sent it from another location. I picked it up on Saturday and voila...here it is :)!
Otto and me are amazed by the beautiful things the author created from used, old and unwanted pieces of furniture all by herself.
We got some inspiration and plan a couple of makeovers in the future.
Until then, here is a sneak peek into the colorful book of ideas: Furniture Makeovers by Barb Blair.
